About the Organizers

Economics at Xiamen University has a long and distinguished history dating back to 1921. Today, the School of Economics (SOE), the Wang Yanan Institute for Studies in Economics (WISE), and the Gregory and Paula Chow Institute for Studies in Economics together form one of China’s leading centers for research in economics, finance, statistics, and econometrics.

The economics community at Xiamen University is strongly research-oriented and internationally engaged. Its faculty maintain active collaborations with scholars and institutions worldwide and publish regularly in leading international journals. In recent years, Xiamen University has consistently ranked among the top economics institutions in China in terms of international research output and has established a growing global reputation in economics and business research.

This international orientation is also reflected in the university’s extensive experience hosting major academic events, including the Asian Meeting of the Econometric Society (AMES) and the Annual Conference of the International Association for Applied Econometrics (IAAE), as well as numerous international workshops, conferences, and distinguished lectures featuring leading scholars from around the world.

The Asia-Pacific Industrial Organization Society (APIOS) was founded in 2016 by economists from leading academic institutions across Australia and New Zealand. It has since developed into a broad regional network connecting researchers in industrial organization throughout the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.

Through its annual Asia-Pacific Industrial Organization Conference (APIOC), APIOS provides a platform for scholars to present new research, exchange ideas, and engage with an international community of academics, policymakers, and industry practitioners. Its member institutions span Australia, New Zealand, China, India, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, and South Korea, and the Society continues to welcome new members and institutional partners.
