“Digital Transformation: Openness, Innovation and Sustainable Development”, Xiamen University, July 1-2, 2023


SUBMISSION DEADLINE FOR THE MEETING: extended to May 31, 2023


Digital Transformation: Openness, Innovation and Sustainable Development is the theme of 2023 Chinese Economic Association (CEA – Europe & UK) Conference. Machine learning, metaverse, open AI such as ChatGPT, Web 3.0 and Industry 4.0 are shaping the world economies and making the new course of human history. The 2023 Chinese Economic Association (CEA) Conference aims to address these profound technological changes through multi-disciplinary research that are shaping our future world. The conference will be held on July 1-2, 2023 at the School of Economics, Xiamen University, which is located in the resort island city of Xiamen (also formerly known as Amoy) in southeast China, with convenient direct flight connections from major European, US and Asian destinations such as Amsterdam, Los Angeles, and Singapore. Xiamen University’s School of Economics is the conference host and the conference is co-chaired by Durham University Business School and the Bartlett School of University College London (UCL). The conference welcomes papers which address the following areas, but are not limited to the topics below:

  •  Blockchain, artificial intelligence, machine learning & metaverse

  •  New infrastructure, transport resilience and sustainability

  •  Digital transformation and economic development

  •  Digitalization and its impacts on innovation and entrepreneurship

  •  Green finance, digitalization, and sustainability

  •  Financial innovation and impact on financial services

  •  Openness, poverty alleviation and social innovation

  •  Supply chain management, innovation in green economy

  •  Export, growth, and innovation under digital economy

  •  FDI, entrepreneurial finance and open innovation

  •  Institutions, low carbon innovation and growth

Paper submissions could be in English or Chinese. Potential publications include Technovation, Structural Change and Economic Dynamics, Transportation Research Part A: Policy and Practice, Journal of Chinese Economic and Business StudiesDigital Economy and Sustainable DevelopmentChina Economic Studies and China Journal of Econometrics.

The deadline for submission is extended to May 31, 2023. Papers can only be submitted electronically through Xiamen University Conference website below. Conference registration fee is RMB 1,500 (approximately USD 216).
